Short listed proposals and concept design for extending and refurbishing an existing grade II listed school house building to provide community and visitor facilities. Components of the project include flexible and adaptable meeting rooms, community hall, kitchen, exhibition and office spaces.

The proposed new extension is set back from the historic approach and forms a coherent boundary to the car park to the north of the site. A key part of the study included proposals to improve access to the Museum and Church precinct. This included proposals for the restoration of materials along historic routes, studies for surface treatment of paths and the car park sensitive to the Grade I and II listed setting, improved access for disabled visitors, methods of increasing visibility of the Museum from the High Street, improved signage and interpretation, and incorporation of site-specific art works.
