LLA were commissioned for an options appraisal and feasibility study for improvements to the entrance to make it reflect this inclusive, multicultural inner London school.

Generated from ideas from workshops with the children, the concept was a re-interpretation of a ‘garden’ wall incorporating habitat for birds (and potentially other creatures), extending the schools unique emphasis on gardening evidenced by a number of awards. The migratory habits of the birds and mini cameras placed in the bird boxes relaying images to the classroom add an opportunity to relate to the Key Stage 1 & 2 curriculum.

Low maintenance CNC cut exterior grade ply board, with bird boxes behind. Different sized holes to suit different species, with installation possible by volunteers. The proposals were to be funded by a modest grant and contribution from a local charitable foundation.
